In addition to the general characteristics of plastic pipes such as light weight, corrosion resistance, scale resistance, and long service life, PP-R pipes also have the following main features:
1. Non-toxic and hygienic. PP-R raw materials contain only carbon and hydrogen elements, with no harmful or toxic elements present, making it hygienic and reliable. It can be used not only for hot and cold water pipes but also for pure drinking water systems.
2. Thermal insulation and energy saving. The thermal conductivity of PP-R pipes is 0.21 W/mK, only 1/200 that of steel pipes.
3. Good heat resistance. The Vicat softening point of PP-R pipes is 131.5℃. The maximum working temperature can reach 95℃, meeting the requirements for hot water systems in building water supply and drainage codes.
4. Long service life. Under working conditions of 70℃ and 1.0 MPa (P.N), the service life of PP-R pipes can reach over 50 years (provided the pipe material is S3.2 or S2.5 series or higher); at room temperature (20℃), the service life can reach over 100 years.
5. Easy installation and reliable connection. PP-R has excellent weldability; pipes and fittings can be connected by hot-melt and electrofusion, making installation convenient and joints reliable. The strength of the connection is greater than the strength of the pipe itself.
6. Recyclable materials. PP-R waste can be cleaned, crushed, and recycled for the production of pipes and fittings. The amount of recycled material used does not exceed 10% of the total amount and does not affect product quality.
